In Jesus we have confidence in the future. ORGANISATIONAL INFORMATION: St Peter's Anglican Church, has provided a place where people can worship for over 47 years. It is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and employees are subject to the safe working conditions of the Diocese. POSITION OBJECTIVE: Plan and develop a program aimed at engaging young teens which reflects the values and philosophy of St. Peter's Anglican Church. This will focus on a group of early teens already attending St. Peter's and also attract and engage early teens with little or no contact with the church. The program with also develop links and communication with the families of the teenagers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Motivate and support early teens and families to engage in a program specifically designed for young teenagers. • Cater for the interests of teenagers and foster their developing sense of self through a focus on the value of progress rather than the finished product. • Supervise participants to ensure safety. • Research and provide advice on best practice, evidence based approach to program planning and delivery. • Develop a cohesive team focused approach to the program whereby parishioners offering assistance and support are encouraged to take part. • Work collaboratively with parishioners already taking part in children's ministry. • Provide regular feedback to Vestry meetings. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: Essentials • An appropriate Youth and Family Worker qualification — Diploma, or this position may appeal to a person currently studying towards a tertiary qualification in this field. • Current Working with Children, Police Check and First Aid training • Proven ability to work in a cohesive team environment. • Ability to liaise with other community groups, e.g. local councils, schools, colleges, other faith communities and relevant youth and family organisations. • Comprehensive understanding of working with youth and families. • The successful candidate will be strongly aligned to the values of this Christian organisation. • A demonstrated level of awareness relating to their own practice and relationships with others. • An understand of and respect for confidentiality • Mature outlook, confidentiality, flexibility and willingness to learn. • Good time management skills. Desirable • Comfort with flexibility in working arrangements. • Highly developed written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT • Terms and conditions of employment shall be laid down in a Contract of Employment to be entered into by St. Peter's Anglican Church and the employee. • An attractive salary package will be negotiated in accordance with the Social and Community Services Award................................ • A probationary period of 3 months will apply from date of commencement During the probationary period, either party can terminate employment with notice negotiable up to 4 weeks. • The position is 8 hours per week. St. Peter's Anglican Church does not pay any overtime and has a 'flexi-time' policy. • Under Victoria Workcover legislation, it is the applicant's duty to advise St. Peter's.......... of any pre-existing medical conditions, which could be aggravated by the type of employment for which they are applying.
